Description: | Rim fragment of a plate. Tilted convex rim with rounded flange at bottom; edge of a flattish floor. Rouletting on exterior of rim. A rare counterpart of bowl-form Conspectus 33. Yellowish-red clay, smooth lustrous red gloss. Type unusual (the only example here). A counterpart of ESB, Atlante form 5; however, the fabric characteristics are Italian ware consistent with Arezzo or Pozzuoli products. Context: late 1st c., with a mixture of earlier sherds. An early 1st c. piece? | |
