Title:   Stand Fragments

Description:   Fourteen fragments from large stand with cuttings in sides.
a) mended. Decorated with half circles and triangles.
b) mended. Decorated with incipient palmette pattern, curled over.
Three fragments with rays; five fragments from upper part with palmettes pendent between volutes with triangles above. The kalyx shape seems most probable.
Clay light pinkish buff. The black glaze almost entirely worn away. Inside unglazed.
Early Orientalizing style, early 7th c. B.C.(?) For palmette motif, cf. P 894; CVA Cambridge, 1, pl. II:7; AM 22 (1897), p. 279, fig. 12.
Context:   Surface over geometric layer.
