Description:   The body intact; the lid mended from 6 pieces.
a) Pyxis: low flat base, convex side wall flanged at rim inside to receive lid. Flange and lid pierced for fastening. Side wall: wide black band above base; four narrow bands; wide band of checkerboard pattern, the dark squares filled by dotting; three narrow bands to rim. Inside unglazed; bottom undecorated.
b) Lid: slightly convex lid rising to a spike handle with slightly convex sides. Four narrow black bands, a wide one, and four narrow ones again to a wide one around base of handle. Narrow bands around handle.
Brownish buff slip; dull rather metallic black glaze.
