Title:   Plate with Paint Decoration

Description:   More than half preserved. High ring foot. Rosettes around the rim outlined in dark blue or black and set in a brighter blue background. The centers of the flowers below the rim are green, the petals a dark blue, In the central portion the leaves are green, the flowers blue. The exterior was plain white with small scattered ornaments; preserved are two: a circle in blue and an uncertain object in blue(?) and green. The paint in the petals is, in places, so thick that it gives the effect of relief.
Coarse gray clay with a rather thick white slip, badly discolored. Originally the glaze may have been white.
ADDENDA Late Iznik or imitation. Late 17th.-early 18th. c. Cf. P 26504-P 26505 (JWH).
