Title:   Black Figure Oinochoe
ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Oινοχόη με σκηνή παράδοσης όπλων 550 - 525 π.Χ.

Description:   Round-bodied oinochoe on convex profiled ring foot; straight neck, flaring at lip; one triple-ridged handle. Fragment missing from lip.
Panel on front, opposite handle, arming scene. At center, bearded youth right, putting on greaves; facing him stands a woman dressed in a peplos and holding spear and shield; behind, a white-haired man, draped and holding staff. On either side, facing, two warriors all armed and ready to issue forth.
Tongues, alternating black and purple, along top of panel. Purple for hair and beard of arming youth, top of peplos, drapery folds, shield rims, wreaths and one helmet, bands on lip, at base of neck, and below panel. White for woman's flesh, old man's hair, and dots on drapery and helmets; shield designs (one a bent leg, the other a square). Underside of foot reserved; dilute glaze wash over the figured scene.
ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ:   Μελανόμορφη ευρύστομη οινοχόη με παράσταση παράδοσης όπλων σε πολεμιστή. Διακρίνεται γυναικεία μορφή με πέπλο η οποία προσφέρει τα όπλα σε νεαρό πολεμιστή. Λείπουν θραύσματα από το χείλος του αγγείου.
