Title:   Jug with Paint Decoration
Category:   Pottery
Description:   The lip missing and large fragments from the body. High ring base; the handle ridged; two grooves at junction of neck and body. Pinkish-buff clay with small bits. The upper part of the body, to well below the point of greatest circumference, was covered with a dull purplish-brown glaze wash, over which were painted spirals in added white. Most of the white has worn off, but the pattern remains since the white served to preserve the glaze wash beneath it. Elsewhere the wash has largely peeled, leaving a speckled yellowish-brown surface.
