Title:   Guttus with Rouletting: West Slope
ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Ασκοειδές δοχείο λαδιού με προχοή σε σχήμα λεοντοκεφαλής 225 - 200 π.Χ.

Description:   A large part of the lower body missing. The covered top is finished with a tall spiked lid-like knob. Vertical grooved ring handle. A moulded lion's head serves as a spout on one side, at right angles to the handle. The shoulder rouletted. On the top, around the base of the knob, alternating concentric squares and checkerboard, incised, and bordered by incised grooves filled with pink. The alternating squares of the checkerboards were filled with white. A hollow tube reaches up into the pot from below. Through this tube the pot was filled; once filled and inverted, the liquid could be poured out only through the tiny lion's mouth.
Metallic black glaze.
ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ:   Μελαμβαφές θήλαστρο, κατηγορίας δυτικής κλιτύος, με πολύχρωμο διάκοσμο. Λείπει τμήμα από το κάτω μέρος του αγγείου.
Context:   Cistern, lower Hellenistic fill.
