Title:   Black Figure Column Krater Fragments

Description:   Three shoulder fragments and one from farther down, much mended. Decoration in a panel, bordered at sides by dots between vertical bands; above, tongue pattern.
Fragments from left: a) Woman in chiton and himation, driving a chariot, right; behind the reins, part of a draped figure.
b) Two horses, right; behind them, at left, part of a draped figure carrying a lyre, probably the same figure seen at the edge of fragment a), Apollo(?). In the center of the fragment an uncertain object, apparently part of the lyre; a very broad upright(?).
c) The upper right corner of the panel; the top of the head of a figure leading the procession, looking back, right.
d) The forelegs of the horses; behind them a dog.
In field, grape tendrils and clusters.
White for woman's flesh; and a sprigging on drapery. Red for horses' manes, head wreaths, sprigging on drapery; details of lyre and yoke.
Inside, streaky black glaze below the shoulder; above, unglazed.
