Title:   Red Figure Cup Fragments: Type B

Description:   Two figures are seen in procession to the left; lower parts of body missing. The first is a woman holding a phiale in her right hand; her hair is elaborately arranged with a large coil at the back; her features are sharp and delicate. She is wearing a himation draped over her left shoulder; the right shows her chiton with an ornamented band. Behind her is a youth clad in a himation fastened on the left shoulder; in his left hand he carries a long upright staff. The relief lines are well executed; profile eye; careful work; early fine style. A trace of the medallion maeander on the fragment which does not join.
Attic clay; black glaze inside.

Context:   Below level of poros foundations. Between west foundation of Stoa and terrace wall, below level of top of former.
