Title:   Black Figure Pelike Fragments

Description:   From a medium-sized closed pot with figured panel front and back; small amphora?
a) Preserves the circumference of the pot near the bottom, with parts of both panels.
b) Preserves part of the back panel, near its upper left corner.
No traces of burning. A purple line around the pot at the lower edge of the panels. Side borders: dotted zigzag, the connecting lines of the zigzag left out, and the dots carelessly placed.
Scene A) Bearded Herakles, right, struggling with the Nemean lion: 'liegende Schema', sloppily drawn with added white and purple. Purple on Herakles' beard and front hair, and dots and border of his garment. Purple also for the lion's tongue, and dots on his mane. White for the lion's belly-stripe and his jaws. Also for Herakles' quiver-strap(?).
B) Parts of a standing draped female(?) figure, right. Tendril in field. Purple stripes on drapery; white for flesh(?).
Glaze much worn.
