Title:   White Ground Pyxis

Description:   Top not preserved; many fragments missing (P.H. 0.218). High ring foot; straight sides above a wide flare just above floor line.
White slip. Decoration in matte orange to red; on the flare, a bead and reel; on the walls, bands, ribbon bows and a basin on a stand.
Surface much damaged. Inside and underside below flange, unslipped, except for splashes.
ADDENDA Much of upper part, including part of rim, added from sherds; restored in plaster [H. 0.345]. Decoration on upper wall: jewelled necklaces, palmettes and stars. Vertical rim inset from wall to take lid.
Context:   Cistern, middle fill.
