Title:   Head of Female Figure

Description:   Small head, broken off at root of neck; left eye, both ears, top of head missing.
Youthful female (?) face, the head twisted to its left; the hair is preserved only at the back where it is very sketchily rendered; lips slightly parted.
Pronounced ancient weathering on brow and on back hair.
Excellent work of the late 5th century (?).
Altar of Ares Series (?)
Pentelic marble.
Drilled for setting on base 1951.

Conservation Status:   Finished
Context:   Odeion Trench B, Layer II. From filling of late Roman Building, possibly tumbled from core of Odeion.
