Description: | About half preserved. A few chips missing, including the woman's right shoulder. The back roughly tooled. Round flat disk with raised band around edge of front. In relief, a draped female figure, Demeter, seated right on a throne with turned legs and a winged beast as support for the arm. Her left hand holds her drapery up behind her face; in her right she holds a horn or cornucopia. Her feet rest on a footstool. She wears thin chiton and himation, and her hair is gathered in a loose knot at the back. To the right, the remains of Poseidon, facing her; he is draped, has one foot raised and resting on a rock, and holds the trident with his right hand. A tree grows between the two figures. At the bottom a raised ground-line, the exergue plain. Soft white poros. | |
