Description: | Broken all around. Bearded head, the crown and a little of left cheek and eye preserved. Narrow, lightly carved strands, which meet at a point on top and pass under a fillet and emerge as snail shell curls around the brow, indicate hair. The start of the beard is preserved. Probably a Hermes, archaizing style (?); one quarter life-size. Pentelic marble. | |
