Title:   Head of Male Figure: Meleager
Category:   Sculpture
Description:   Broken just below chin. Somewhat battered. Nose and part of upper lip broken away and top of head rubbed. Otherwise well preserved.
Flame locks roughly blocked in rising to a peak over forehead.
Drill used a little in eyes, nostrils and ears. More carefully worked in front than behind.
Seems to be a 1st c. A.D. copy of a Meleager type (cf. Newbold head?) but it looks straight front.
Pentelic marble.
ADDENDA From a herm? (AS 1997)
Context:   Late Roman Building west of LRFW (Late Roman Fortification Wall), ca. 1.00m. west of end of Wall A, and 0.40m. below its top. 6th to 7th c. A.D. context.
