Title:   Head of Philosopher Figurine

Description:   Front half of moulded male head, worn, with part of beard broken away.
Facial features of a philosopher; bald, with high forehead, heavy brows, deeply set eyes and mouth, broad nose, long moustache and beard.
Inside hollow, with air vent through top of head.
Remains of white and pink added paint.
Early Roman.
Pinkish-red, fine-grained fabric.
Context:   South of wall 2 (rock fall next to wall).
Handling:   The object was placed in a polystyrene box with ethafoam support and separted from the ethaform with acid free tissue paper. The box was labled "Please handel with care. Pigments are fragile".
