Leslie Shear was Director of the American School excavations at the Athenian Agora when they began in 1931. He was also closely involved with excavations at ancient Corinth, excavated by the School since 1896. It is fitting, therefore, that the majority of the 45 contributors to this memorial volume focus on materials from these two excavations.
