Title: | Wall Plaster | |
Category: | Architecture Misc.
Description: | Scores of fragments were found. Some of the pieces have been made up into two panels. The rest are stored in a tray. The plaster is of three colors, red, black and a stippled white. Enough is preserved or can be put together to make the original scheme clear. The black belongs to the "orthostate" course at the bottom of the wall. The "orthostate" were given a sunken band around their edges and the joints were indicated by incision. The "string course" was white. Its central panel was decorated by stippling. Above this was the red plaster of the wall surface proper. A black fragment in the tray has a deeper sunken band than the orthostates and may be part of the toichobate.
