Three-fourths of wall and rim restored.

Slightly convex wall with two grooves at bottom and top. Rim inclined. Angular knob with groove in top of raised edge; nearly flat center. Knob: eight-rayed teardrop asterisk with alternating white and orange rays. Wall: large ivy garlandwith white wavy main stem, leaves on incised stems alter-nating with white dot rosettes.

Bead and reel (white reel) between scraped grooves at bottom. Grainy, metallic red glaze; finger marks on knob and upper wall.

Mottled Oliver Closely similar and also Mottled Oliver but smaller: P 6007, from same context (Rotroff 1991, no. 92, p. 93, pl. 38). Bead and reel as border motif on other Mottled Oliver lids: 1288, 1291, 1292, 1294, 1295, 1298, 1301, P 4115, P 4141 a (H 15:2), P 4161, P 4162, P 6007. For this border on earlier lids see 1279.
