Three non-joining fragments, a with start of handle at far left and b of rim and wall; c of wall and ring base. Trace of circle on underside of floor. Max. dim.: a) 0.064, b) 0.045, c) 0.063. Est. H. 0.086 (putting a and b together).

Decoration from the rim down. On rim, tongue pattern with dots; then a laurel wreath with fruit, band of chevrons, and another laurel wreath, all to right (fragments a [illustrated] and b; a bit of lower laurel wreath on c). At the far left of fragment a, ends of fronds of palmette configuration at handle. At the far left of fragment c there is a vertical line of glaze, indicating the start of the ornament below the other handle. White: laurel wreaths; fruit.

The Saint-Valentin Vases. For this class, see ARV2 984--985; Paralip. 437; Addenda 311. 1289 seems to be a slight variant on Howard and Johnson's Group VI, for it has a zone of chevrons between the two bands of laurel (AJA 58, 1954 [ pp. 191--207], p. 194).
