Two non-joining wall fragments. Streaky blackish brown glaze on inside. Max. dim. a) 0.064, b) 0.051.

Musical contest. Fragment a preserves an aulos-player (most of head, lower part of garment, and feet missing) standing to right, wearing a decorated, sleeved garment. Fragment b shows the head and shoulders of a man, probably seated (he looks upward) to left, facing the musician. Around his head is a fillet with three spikes; over his shoulder, a himation. At the right, a reserved line that may be the picture frame. At the far right of a, a bit of reserve that may represent a staff or scepter held by the seated man. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour: profile. White: spikes of wreath.

For the garment worn by the aulos-player as a full dress costume, see J. D. Beazley, Hesperia 24, 1955 [ pp. 305--319], p. 308.
