Description:   The seal is attached to the wall of a plain flat bottomed bowl, P 14431 (X 988), rivetted through the clay just below the rim.
A seated figure (Dionysos ?) facing right; a high back to throne, and apparently a cushion on the seat. The figure holds a scepter (?) in left hand; right hand resting on knee holds kantharos in lap (?). Further right, at edge of seal, a vertical line.
Type of the "Dionysos by Alcamenes"; it is not however a duplicate of either of the coins: cf. Svoronos (1923), pl. 92, nos. 8-21; also Richter (1929), p. 236, fig. 631: Dionysos by Alkamenes, seated right, thyrsos in one hand, kantharos in other, altar in front of him. See also same figure, seated left on Athenian New Style coin dated ca. 90 B.C., Head (1888), BMC Attica, p. 104, no. 758, pl. XVIII, 6.
