Agora Object: L 1193
Inventory Number:   L 1193
Section Number:   Α 757
Title:   Lamp Fragments: Double Decker
Category:   Lamps
Description:   The larger piece mended from three. Nearly all the rim preserved; the end and the right side of the nozzle missing, and all the bottom of the lamp. Nothing of the lower lamp preserved.
Broad rim, sloping inward slightly, the wick hole encroaching on it only slightly. Indication of the attachment of a horizontal (?) band handle remains near the back of the larger piece. The other attachment would fall apparently at the point where the rim is missing.
Brownish-black to black glaze on the inside, and around the nozzle, and on the rim, the latter with a broad reserved band, narrowing toward the nozzle. Transparent glaze wash on the outside.
The lower reservoir is entirely missing, but the breaks in the side walls, which seem to have been made in two layers, indicate its existence.
Type II of Corinth collection, type 18 of Agora collection.
ADDENDA Probably two lamps.
