Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Thirteen fragments (a-m, several mended) from a cup, preserving parts of the rim, wall and floor. Of the stem, the attachment only. Exterior: parts of at least four standing draped figures, two female and two male; the heads of three figures remain; one youth and one woman facing each other across two large uncertain objects, possibly drapery hanging on the wall. The other youth looks right, toward a small object hanging in the field. Interior: medallion with two standing draped figures, one a woman wearing a sakkos, looking right; border, maeander broken by cross squares. A figured zone (Eos and Kephalos) surrounds the medallion, filling the space to the cup rim, marked by a reserved line. There remain part of a winged female figure (kerchiefed head, left, with one wing), a bit of her skirt and foot; and part of a second female figure (back of kerchief only). A youth in chlamys, left, with hat hanging, a spear(?) held in his left hand, his right arm outstretched; and a second youth, part draped in an himation, bending over to left, his right elbow bent out behind him. Further, the mid-part of a draped figure; four unassigned feet, the end of a staff, two spear heads, and two undecorated rays. No relief contour.
