Description: | Handle fragment. A straight, flat piece with broken edges above and below. Rosettes. Sides decorated with short cross strokes between bands along the edges front and back. Back unglazed. Brown glaze much worn on one side. An interesting forerunner of the usual late 7th and 6th. c. type of handle with rosettes (cf. Athens Nessos amphora and the Vourva loutrophoros, AM 15 (1890), pl. XI. Orientalizing style). | |
