Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Mended from many pieces; part of the lip, and much of the body, including most of the figured scene, missing. Oinochoe Shape III. Panel bordered by ovule pattern above and below; narrow reserved bands at sides. Preserved are parts of the feet and lower drapery of two figures, he at the left with a staff. Glaze fired irregularly red to black, and very much worn; fairly thick glaze wash inside; underside of foot reserved. Additional fragments give parts of both figures: several pieces joining with each other but not with the vase wall; restored in plaster. Two figures moving right: first, a youth well wrapped in his himation; behind him a bearded figure, walking with the aid of a staff held in his right hand; his himation thrown over his left shoulder, the right shoulder bare. No relief contour; a little dilute glaze for the muscles. | |
