Title:   Lebes Gamikos Stand

Description:   Stand for lebes gamikos mended from several pieces; the vase broken off above, and all of the base of the stand, with parts of the walls, missing. Above, around base of pot, rays; then a broad projecting ridge, glazed on top. Around the top of the stand a ring of large blobs separated by lines of three dots. Around the stand, four standing women, all wearing chitons, himatia and fillets. The figures are arranged in groups of two, one facing the other. In one group, the left-hand figure holds a large basket, raised high in her hands; the right-hand figure holds a taenia. In the other group, the woman to the left holds a taenia, she to the right an alabastron.
No relief contour; added clay for the fillet; considerable remains of red wash.
ADDENDA Most of the lower wall added from sherds, and much of the circle of the base, with tongues above a plain flattened rounded foot.
