Description: | Mended from many pieces; the foot missing and the stem below two scratched rings; nearly all the lip lacking and a large part of the upper right side of the medallion. Handles missing. Inside, within a single reserved circle, a bearded man seated right on a plain stool. He wears a himation over his left shoulder and around the lower part of his body. Bending forward, he is winding a string around a staff. Hanging in the field behind him, a sponge. Simulated inscription painted in black glaze on the exergue; nonsense inscription in the field: <graphic> Relief contours. Red for the inscription and the string; for the loop of the sponge and its fringe(?). Good glaze, the outside fired red in part. | |
