Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Mended from several pieces; all the stem missing, one handle and part of another, nearly half the rim and a large piece from the left side of the medallion. Irregular reserved circle around the medallion which depicts a crouching warrior. The warrior kneels left, holding a spear, and a pelta (about half missing) decorated with a large circle and dot near the top. He is nude save for the long-tailed cap. Nonsense inscription in the field. Large full face eye. Relief contours. The handle space and the inside of the handle reserved. No red wash preserved on the inside, except for traces on the cap; more remains on the handle space. The "inscription" is apparently written in a clay-colored paint, not in red or white. <graphic> | |
