Title:   Panathenaic Amphora Fragments

Description:   Numerous fragments from body of vase, both joining and non-joining but none from base, mouth or handles. Of the athletes there remain the legs of three distance runners on joining fragments, one head much peeled, three hands and one arm, also the legs and feet of a trainer to right. Of Athena, facing left, the feet, part of waist and skirt, the spear arm and the lower part of the face. Of the shield there remains some rim and part of the wreath.
Of the one inscription remains the initial T; of the dating inscription remains <graphic>
The reserved surfaces are carefully polished; the glaze for the most part is firm and glossy.
Context:   Small pocket in bedrock above the south side of S.W. Annex of the S.W. Fountain House.
