Agora Object: P 2772
Inventory Number:   P 2772
Section Number:   Α 853
Title:   Cup Fragment
Category:   Pottery
Description:   The foot and stem missing the center of the cup and fragments from the sides and more than half the rim; also one handle, but traces of its attachment preserved.
Fragment c) a small bit with part of the body and the start of the offset lip seems to belong but does not join.
Reserved: inside of handle and space between attachments.
Black glaze: the offset rim, inside and out, and the outside of the handle, fired black to deep chocolate brown. The bowl of the cup, inside and out, glazed sealing-wax red. Cf. P 2698 and note on glaze there. Here the glaze is better and more uniformly like the black but it shows the same tendency to peel. The red is painted over the black around the inside of the rim.
Fragment b) does not belong but comes from a cup done in a similar technique.
