Title:   Kotyle Fragment

Description:   Nine joining fragments preserving more than one-third of original vessel, including one handle, with full profile. One plaster filling. Glaze very worn and peeled.
Early Protocorinthian kotyle of late 8th/ early 7th century BC. Deep body and gently incurving walls. Exterior: lower part painted solid, including small offset foot. Above, a series of four horizontal bands. Shoulder zone decorated with vertical squiggles. Vertical strokes on handle. Interior probably originally painted solid but glaze too badly worn to be certain.
Buff Corinthian fabric; brownish to black glaze.
Context:   Middle stoa, under north aisle. "Upper trench" - intrusion into LG burial I 13: 5. Basket 86N.
