Description:   Finial with handles, and top of dome of lid, in a single piece. 'Whitewash' traces on both surfaces.
Shallow domed top of lid proper, surmounted by a solid cylindrical drum flanked by two applied arched rolls of clay (forming 'handles'). Top of finial conical, ending in a flat knob, hollowed on top. Around the finial, three grooves (in part pairs); its top edge is slightly filled, to form a six-to-seven-petaled flower motif. On top of main lid (near present fracture), a narrow applied band, filled where preserved. Deep brick-red clay, with lime specks and slight mica traces; surface wash, fired yellowish to buff-brown. Traces of 'gold' wash over the white slip remains.
For configuration of the lid, cf. the coarse gray-ware vessel P 12808.
