Title:   Pithos Fragments with Glaze Decoration

Description:   Fragment from the mouth of a large pithos. The rim is flat and broad on top and finished on the outside with a cavetto between two ovolos.
The lower ovolo is decorated with a herringbone pattern between two straight lines; the cavetto with a band of wave pattern surmounted by two straight lines, all in brown glaze.
Yellow clay containing large particles of brown grit.
ADDENDA Two additional fragments added from sherds: Est. Diam. (inside) 0.42, (outside) 0.562; P.H. a) 0.108, b) 0.142, c) 0.069. Fragment b) mended from three joining pieces. Straight line of black glaze shading to red below lower ovolo on fragment b).
P 4073 probably from bottom of same curb.
Context:   Cistern. Draw shaft.
