Title:   Pyxis with Lid

Description:   Body and lid mended from many fragments.
a) Round pyxis with low ring foot, and convex side wall flanged inside rim to receive lid; flange and lid pierced for tying together. On body: wide band above foot, three narrow bands, triple zigzag, three narrow bands, hatched maeander running left, three narrow bands. On flange, two narrow bands. Interior glazed to ca. 0.03m. below rim; reserved dot on center of floor. Bottom: wide band inside foot, two narrow bands, wide band with reserved zigzag, narrow band, diagonal hatching between narrow band, two narrow bands around a maltese cross.
b) Lid: low conical round lid with spiral knob handle; two bands at edge, reserved tooth pattern, three bands, wide band, three narrow bands, wide band. On stem: narrow bands; on knob, triple zigzag; on spike, narrow bands.
Slipped, glazed red inside and on lid, black to brownish and peeled outside.
Incised on the under side of the lid, between two tie-holes, a cross; between the other two, a straight line.
