Title:   Plate Fragment with Sgraffito Decoration

Description:   Base and most of central medallion preserved. On the central medallion an elaborate design in which appears a seated lion, his head front, his body following the contour of the circle, against a rinceau background.
White slip originally covered the whole vase, inside and out; there are traces of yellowish glaze outside. Fairly good reddish clay.
Context:   Pit. Found with coins #2 through #17 for the day.
