Title:   Bowl with Sgraffito Decoration

Description:   Numerous fragments mended into one and preserving about three-quarters of the bowl. Profile complete. A shallow open bowl with plain rim and low ring foot. At center, a head with pointed cap and beard, between two spirally fluted columns. Above it, a cloud(?). In the background between the columns the clay is scraped away leaving an unslipped and unglazed surface. The outside, to within a couple of cm. of the foot, is covered with brown glaze, worn, over white slip.
Pinkish-buff clay, white slip. Details of decoration added in brown, green and blue glaze.
ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ:   Απότμημα λεκάνης με πορτραίτο Δόγη. Λείπουν θραύσματα από το σώμα και το χείλος του αγγείου.
Notes:   Permission asked to be given to the Byzantine Museum today 16 April 2014. Exh. from Nov. 2014 to May 2015. The bowl was given out the 12th of November 2014.
Conservation Status:   Finished
Context:   Well near S.W. corner of burnt building.
