Title:   Lekane on Stand: Corinthian
Category:   Pottery
Description:   A shallow basin, supported on a plain cylindrical stand. The profile is complete; a bit of the plain lower edge of the stand remains. Much is missing from rim and basin; restored in plaster. The rim, plain on top, slopes down and out and has a vertical face, overhanging. This face is decorated with horizontal reeding. The grooves between the ridges are colored: at least two red and one black line can be seen. At one point in the central groove, a small projection, reminiscent of a handle. The wall of the basin, inside, is smooth, like the rim, for the upper 0.05m. The remainder (i.e. the floor) has been sprinkled with grits to make an abrasive surface.
Pale creamy buff clay, slipped in part.
