Title:   Red Figure Lekythos Fragment

Description:   Fragment from shoulder of squat lekythos. On shoulder, the upper part of a woman to right in front of Doric column. Behind the column a palmette; above, a band of egg and dot. The woman thrusts out her right arm; she wears a chiton and a white hairband. Behind the column, part of a handle-palmette. Relief contours.
ADDENDA Not squat lekythos but large-shoulder lekythos, probably without figure on body. For the type, cf. London 1910-30,1 (Phiale Painter, ARV 658, no. 98; see also nos. 96-97, 99, 100); also Athens Nat. Museum 16283 (manner of Achilles Painter, 29 bis, Paralip.) BF Cook.
