Title:   Red Figure Oinochoe

Description:   Mended from many pieces; much missing from rim, walls and base. Restored in plaster. Round-bodied oinochoe on broad flat ring foot; trefoil lip; handle triangular in section. Thin glaze inside and under foot.
Around the neck an ivy wreath, leaves and their stems in white, central stem and four berries at center of wreath, in added clay. Egg pattern below ground line. No side borders to the figured panel. The scene shows a youth, nude save for a flying scarf, driving a team of three dappled deer, left. In front of the animals another youth, also moving rapidly left, but looking back right. He carries a staff(?). One deer is painted white, with details in thin glaze; the other two are reserved. No relief contours. Both youths have curly brown hair. Details in added clay: boys' fillets, reins, whip and harness. Neat work.
