Title: | Skyphos Fragment
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Mended from four fragments. Flaring base only preserved; projecting moulding around top of fragment. Black glazed save for reserved border with three thin glazed stripes; underside unglazed. Attic clay. Probably from a deep Protogeometric bowl; no other fragments of this were found in or near the grave. Presumably this base was reused as a cup of lid. Examples of such reused fragments are not infrequent in Geometric graves (ArchEph (1898), p. 107; ArchEph (1911), p. 248).
