Description: | Shaft surface preserved on two joining faces, broken at bottom and other two sides. A shallow picked socket with square dowel hole in center for attachment of heads. Double herm, which had on one face the conventional archaizing head with long shoulder-locks and small rectangular arm-pieces (here carve in one with the block). On the other a (female?) figure in chiton with short sleeves with modeled human arms, of which the right one is preserved to below the elbow. Probably Roman work. Pentelic marble. From the same herm as S 1209 (Ι 1278). | |
