Title:   Portrait Head of Male Figure

Description:   Broken at neck. Head intact except for tip of nose and chips and wear on hair. Fault in marble near top of head.
Portrait of middle-aged man with bushy beard and masses of curly hair on head and neck, leaving the lower half of ears visible. Hair of eyebrows indicated. Prominent furrowed brow. Engraved irises and drilled pupils. Free use of drill on hair and beard.
Perhaps a portrait of a kosmete.
Good white Pentelic marble.
Context:   Well in east colonnade of Peristyle of Roman House H.
