Category:   Sculpture
Description:   Head of a youth with most of the left side of the face and head broken away. Nose, chin and cheek chipped, and the head broken off at the base of the neck.
The finish of the way hair on top and at the back suggests that this was probably broken from a relief.
Pentelic marble.
From the Altar of Ares? From the Parthenon Frieze?
This head disappeared from its place sometime on Monday 22 August 1955, its loss was observed on the evening of that day. The base on which it was set was left behind, but the bronze rod had gone. See photograph LXXV-72.
