Title: | Mold Fragment for Plaque
Category: | Terracotta Moulds
Description: | Nearly a quarter of the circumference is preserved. Athena 's figure is broken away at the waist and only the head and the right shoulder of the man are preserved. The edge of the mold curves up like the rim of a plate and its inner edge is outlined by a narrow groove. Athena stands left holding a shield on her left arm; the Medusa head device nearly covers the surface of the shield. Her right hand is bent up to her right shoulder and she is gazing at the exploits of a man at the left who apparently faces front. Above the man 's head, a gaming board of some sort (?). Unglazed. Bright red clay. (This description is of the plaster impression).
