Although three periods of use can be discerned in the stratigraphy of the well below a depth of ca. 5.47m., the pottery from the three strata appears to be uniformly of the second half of the 9th c. B.C.. Friable bedrock exposed near the middle of the shaft probably caved in periodically during the well's use, thereby producing layers of gravel between the deposits of broken water jars. The closing fill appears to date to the opening years of the 8th c.
